In my language, Kinyarwanda, we say "Kira" when you sneeze. It’s wishing you well, wealth and most importantly health. Also abundance and everything your soul desires. This project is that blessing manifested. Kira is the final chapter of a trilogy that began with "Ki" and "Kitu," Kira arrives soon as a 10-track testament to transformation. 10 tracks for a decade of independence. 10 for the digital age. 10 for the journey from brokenness to becoming. 10/10 to fulfilling the promise I gave myself back in 2016 when I quit my 9 to 5 to dedicate my time and energy to the craft. This is metamorphosis in motion—an immersive odyssey through healing, growth, and the alchemy of turning pain into power. For ten years, 1key has walked the path of the independent artist, navigating shadows and choosing light, building something beautiful from the fragments of poverty and struggle. From the opening reverie of "Nzozi," where Kinyarwanda flows like ancient wisdom over laid-back rhythms, painting decades of lived experience in vivid color—through the battle-tested resilience of "Gladiator" where human meets machine in lyrical combat—to the pure joy of "Live Laugh Dance," an anthem for everyone who refused to stay down—each track is a chapter, each verse a revelation. Kira doesn't just document a journey; it is the journey. Born at the intersection of human creativity and Artificial Intelligence, these songs represent collaboration at its most unexpected: 1key penned 99% of the lyrics with raw authenticity, while Gemini stepped into the ring on "Gladiator" to spar verse-for-verse in a battle-rap showdown of Human vs AI, and lent its voice to craft the infectious chorus of "Moto Girl." This is autobiography. This is artistry. This is the sound of wishes becoming reality. Dive into Kira and witness the transformation.

KITU!! The thing can also be read as Ki2, a new entry into 1key’s musical and poetic diary that began with Ki (album, 2023). KITU is literally poetry in motion molded from casual jam sessions into a full body of work that expresses growth, hope, movements of an East African storyteller traveling between Africa and Europe in pursuit of his dreams. Kitu is at most the translation of 1key’s emotions, perceptions and experiences into poetry and rap laid on a tapestry of sonic vibrations created by Alyt MX. As the journey continues, 1key opens the door to more stories from fellow African artists whom he met on his way and who are equally passionate about their craft, whether it's poetry, rap, storytelling, singing...

On Warriors with Dreaded Warrior, 1key draws the listener into his character and source of inspiration. "Mirror, mirror is this version my best yet?" "Every time I write I let you inside my mind, my heart and soul" -1key

While 1key takes a political stance on LISTEN | SILENT featuring Osee Elektra from the Democratic Republic of Congo, to break the silence regarding the atrocities happening in Eastern D.R. Congo, he draws a parallel with the genocide happening in Palestine committed by the Israeli Government as a huge part of the world remains silent in the face of this violence.

On ExponentieL, 1key opens his heart and lets the listener inside his romantic story involving a woman he met in Brussels and pursued in Paris.

What to say about the EAST AF cypher? So many quotables from great MC's hailing from Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.

And to get you in a dancing mood, there is SAVING GRACE. It's upbeat, the melodies are transcending while the story about finding the one overlaps between traditional Kinyarwanda storytelling and modern poetry in English.

Overall Kitu is a brave journey of self expression and steps towards becoming the best version of self.

"KI [chi] is the energy driving this self-portrait album created in about three weeks. Every story, every song, every line is an invitation into my internals. Couldn't be done without Dr. Nganji who produced, mixed & mastered the whole album. Gratitude to Dawidi for the sax + vocals, and Banza Dolph who designed the album cover. 1key, 1love

Alkeymie - The Slamtape

Alkeymie is an ode to specific inspirations that made me strong in hard times. I remember writing the first lines on my hospital bed after having surgery on my lower jaw, broken by a thief's punch over some cheap phone.

ENTRE 2

1key

"Entre 2 – which boasts eleven carefully constructed tracks – is reflective of complex contradictions and dichotomies in 1Key’s own life. Throughout the album, we hear multiple voices singing and rapping in Kinyarwanda, French and English – as well as in Kiswahili and a bit of Lingala – reflecting the new Kigali today." ~ Ceri Whitley

The music of this album is one of different elements, which constitutes the walking-through-music- theatre piece Rwandan Records.

What does tradition mean when the past is tainted by crimes? Who decides what is carried on a collective knowledge and moored in the culture? RWANDAN RECORDS is a sound installation, radio play and live concert by Sounding Situations featuring artists from Rwanda and Germany and combines pre-colonial accounts with stories from the present. It invites audience members to immerse themselves in the stories shared by Rwanda and Germany.

What you experience in the piece on a musical level is a soundscape formed out of field recordings of nowadays done by Klaus Janek, musical field recordings and music experts collected in the 20th century starting from 1907 to the 80ies – the notion of a Rwandan auditive culture scape. The voices of the recordings which are activated by the audience mix an own language soundscape to the space. The private encounters with those voices are now and then sporadically interrupted by a collectively shared concert event: the music of these events you are holding in your hand now.

The music is created by sampling through the archives in order to form an aesthetic synthesis of the music tradition of Rwanda and personalize it through a commonly shared OWN of 1Key and Klaus Janek, which is the fascination of 90ies Hip Hop.
